In a transaction worth US$568 million, Aker Philadelphia Shipyard has announced that it has started construction on the third and fourth product tankers for the US energy infrastructure company, Kinder Morgan.

The vessels will be 600 ft in length and will have a capacity of 14.5 million gal. for either crude or refined fuels. In addition to this, the vessels will be constructed with LNG propulsion as a future consideration, and will help sustain the shipyard’s 1100 workers for the upcoming years.

Upon completion, they will be delivered between November 2016 and November 2017, and then sold to Kinder Morgan subsidiaries.
