FERC grants Elba LNG project authorisation to commence service of Train 5

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has granted authorisation for Elba Liquefaction Co. LLC and Southern LNG Co. LLC to begin liquefaction and export activities from Train 5 of the Elba Island LNG project.

In a letter to Southern Natural Gas Co., FERC said: “Based on commission staff inspections and review of the commissioning activities, the companies have demonstrated that the above-mentioned facilities have been constructed in accordance with commission approval and applicable standards and can be expected to operate safely as designed.

“Further, based on commission staff inspections, I note that the rehabilitation and restoration of the areas affected by the approved facilities are proceeding satisfactorily.”

The project is located on Elba Island in Chatham County, Georgia.
