Venture Global LNG welcomes former energy secretary

Venture Global LNG, Inc. has announced former Deputy Secretary of Energy, Daniel B. Poneman, as the newest member of its Board of Directors.

Commenting on the appointment, Bill Wicker, CEO of Venture Global LNG, said: “Dan adds to our leadership a wealth of energy, policy and international experience,” said Bill Wicker, CEO of Venture Global LNG.

“Dan has had a wonderful tenure at the highest levels of public service with the US Department of Energy. We are very grateful we will have the benefit of his experience, insights and guidance. Additionally, Dan’s background will help make an important contribution to our mission to provide safe, reliable LNG exports.”

Poneman served as deputy secretary of energy from May 2009 until October of this year, with responsibilities spanning the range of US energy policies and programs, including cybersecurity, project management, national security and international cooperation. His efforts in incident management and emergency response included the Fukushima accident, the 2011 drawdown from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and Hurricane Sandy.
