RWE strengthens LNG presence in Asia

LNG Industry,

RWE has opened a new office in Mumbai, India, to strengthen the company’s presence in Asia and to focus on coal, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and fertilizer business.

The new office was opened on 28th November by the CEO of RWE Supply & Trading, Stefan Judisch, in the presence of approximately one hundred representatives from customers and business partners.

The newly established office, headed by Tapas Kapadia as CEO of RWE (India), is already fully operational. The opening marks the next step of the company’s growth strategy in the Asia Pacific region, following on from the establishment of offices in Singapore in 2010, and the opening of an office in Jakarta, Indonesia, earlier this year.

In addition to focusing on coal trading and freight in India, REW Supply & Trading is also directly supplying coal to consumers including cement and fertilizer producers. Nitrogen fertilizer has been recently added to the company’s trade portfolio. Customers are now able to access RWE’s global fuel and logistics portfolio, helping, for example, fertilizer producers to optimize feedstock choices such as natural gas, coal and waste gases and to hedge their cash-margins.

LNG trade

RWE is continuing to expand its LNG trading business by levering its experience and capability to hedge LNG buyers’ exposures to oil and gas indices, and by optimization of FOB LNG supplies and shipping from US liquefaction and other new production sources.

Tapas Kapadia commented: “I am happy that we can now offer our comprehensive skills and knowledge of the global RWE Group to the growing Asian markets and especially to my home country India“.
