Micoperi has announced that it has been selected by Quantum Power to be the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the Tema LNG facility. The import, storage, regasification and delivery facility is to be built in Ghana, with construction commencing in 2016. It will be have the capacity to fuel over 2000 MW of power generation, and will enable Ghana National Petroleum Corp. (GNPC) to secure LNG to supplement indigenous gas, providing security of fuel supply. This follows the news in February 2016 that Quantum had signed a heads of agreement with GNPC for both the construction and operation of the facility.

The Vice President of Micoperi, Claudio Bartolotti, said: “We are delighted to have been selected to execute the EPC for this project of strategic importance, not only for Ghana but also the wider West Africa region. Micoperi’s established experience in Ghana and in delivering similar projects in other markets ensures execution to the highest international standards.”

The CEO of Quantum Power, Matty Vengerik, said: “Following the rigorous international EPC tender process, which we launched last year, Micoperi has emerged as the successful bidder. We look forward to a professional collaboration to ensure the timely commissioning of this strategic facility, which has the full backing of the Government of Ghana.”
