FID on Mozambique LNG project expected before end of 2016

According to Reuters, Leticia da Silva Klemens – the Energy Minister of Mozambique – has said that Italy’s Eni is expected to make a final investment decision (FID) on its first offshore deepwater LNG project in Mozambique by the end of 2016.

Reuters reports that, following FID, it is expected to take a minimum of five years before production commences. Mozambique reportedly has approximately 85 trillion ft³ of gas reserves, which Reuters claims is enough to provide Italy, France, Britain and Germany with gas for almost 20 years.

The Energy Minister went on to say that the US’s Anadarko is also expected to make an investment decision on a different LNG project next year.
