LNG Industry,

Babcock International is celebrating six new ecoSMRT® contracts with Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea.

Delivering expert development, engineering and project management from its Rosyth facility in Scotland, Babcock is making its mark within the LNG sector. The ecoSMRT® order book, totalling 11 contracts over the last six months and worth in excess of £40 million, proves this disruptive new technology is capable of delivering for a range of international customers.

Designed to reliquefy at 1.9 tph using a single mixed refrigeration unit, Babcock’s ecoSMRT® technology removes the requirement for external pre-cooling, resulting in significant footprint reduction and lower maintenance with only one compressor required. Benefitting from its reduced environmental footprint and low cost of ownership, ecoSMRT® is making waves as its improved efficiency provides customers energy savings for newbuilds and retrofit programmes across the optimised cargo handling market.

Neale Campbell, Babcock LGE Managing Director, said: “ecoSMRT® is an innovative solution; we are well placed to support our customers as technology and environmental factors drive efficiencies and improvements across the market. Our recent success highlights that ecoSMRT® is trusted to deliver energy and cost savings for our customers.”

Babcock delivers a range of solutions designed to support the growing liquefied gas market including ecoSMRT®, Vent Gas Cooler (VGC™) and SuperCooler™.
