Gulf Energy and PTT to build Thailand LNG project

Reuters is reporting that Gulf Energy Development Pcl and PTT Pcl will collaborate to construct a US$1.3 billion gas terminal and port on Thailand’s east coast.

The government of Thailand has stated that its investment partnership with the Gulf Energy/PTT joint venture, Gulf MPT LNG Terminal Co. Ltd., will encourage more investment in the country’s industrial east and boost economic growth.

The first phase of the project will involve the construction of an LNG terminal with a minimum capacity of 5 million tpy. In later stages this will reportedly be increased to approximately 10.8 million tpy.

The project is expected to commence commercial operations in 2025.
