Chevron announces Yellowglen-1 gas discovery
Chevron Australia Pty Ltd has announced successful drilling in the Greater Gorgon area in the Carnarvon Basin offshore Western Australia. The Yellowglen-1 exploration well is located in the WA-268-P permit area approximately 250 km northwest of Onslow. It was drilled to a total depth of 2760 m using the ENSCO 7500 dynamically positioned, semisubmersible rig. Results indicate a gas column of approximately 137 m (450 ft).
Investments continue this year
Chevron Australia Managing Director Roy Krzywosinski said, ‘We welcome this latest discovery as a potential new source of supply underpinning the Gorgon project. Chevron plans to continue making investments in Australia on exploration, appraisal and seismic programmes in 2010.’

Chevron Australia is the operator of WA-268-P with a 50% interest.
The company leads the development of the Gorgon and Wheatstone natural gas projects, manages its equal one-sixth interest in the North West Shelf Venture, and operates Australia’s largest onshore oilfield on Barrow Island and the Thevenard Island oilfields.
