Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) has announced that the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has included the membrane containment tank system as one of the full integrity tank options in the 2016 edition of the NFPA code.
The membrane technology has been included in the NFPA after extensive public review.
This amendment of the NFPA 59A Standard for the Production, Storage, and Handling of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) entered into force with an effective date of 28 December 2015.
The NFPA standard has a broad application in the US, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.
GTT noted that this milestone “signifies that the membrane containment system is now globally recognised for application in onshore storage tanks for liquefied gases.”
