Tellurian Investments – a private company founded by Charif Souki and Martin Houston to build mid scale liquefaction and export projects along the US Gulf Coast – has released a statement announcing that Meg Gentle has joined the company as President and CEO. Gentle, who has made a private investment in Tellurian of US$10 million, will also become a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to her new role, Gentle served as the Executive Vice President of Marketing at Cheniere Energy, and was based in London, UK. Souki will continue to serve as the Non-Executive Chairman, with Houston as the Executive Vice Chairman.

Souki said: “Meg is an exceptionally talented executive. She joined me at Cheniere in 2004 as an analyst. In 2009, when the shale revolution changed the outlook for the company, I called on her to assume the role of Chief Financial Officer. In very difficult circumstances, she managed Cheniere’s liquidity and arranged financings which bought the company time to recover and adapt. When we developed our new strategy, she went on to negotiate US$25 billion of debt and equity financings which turned Cheniere into a spectacular success.

“In her most recent commercial role, she established Cheniere’s platform for future growth. I am delighted that she is now available to run Tellurian Investments. Over the past 12 years I have learned to trust her completely and have watched her perform brilliantly. She will do the same at Tellurian.”

In her new role, Gentle will handle the strategic and daily operations of the company. She will help develop Driftwood LNG, which is a 26 million tpy export facility proposed near Lake Charles, Louisiana, US, and is the company’s first project. Currently, the project is in the engineering design and pre-filing phase. Driftwood LNG’s pre-filing request was approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on 6 June 2016, and Tellurian expects that construction will commence in 2018, with operations beginning in 2022.
