According to Reuters, Chevron Corp is expecting to restart Train 2 of its Gorgon LNG project in early September, after a period of extended maintenance.
Planned maintenance began at Gorgon LNG Train 2 on 23 May, with a restart scheduled for 11 July. However, during a routine inspection, weld quality issues were uncovered in the train’s propane heat exchangers.
In a recent announcement, a Chevron company spokesman stated that the scheduled mechanical work on the train has been completed and that the repair work on the exchangers is now underway. This unexpected repair work has delayed the train’s restart date until early September.
Gorgon LNG Trains 1 and 3 reportedly remain online and are producing and delivering LNG and domestic gas as contracted.
