According to Reuters, the Douglas Channel LNG Consortium, which includes Idemitsu, EDF Trading and Exmar and is led by AltaGas, has halted its proposed small scale LNG project. The consortium was expecting to take a final investment decision (FID) in late 2015 on a 550 000 tpy floating LNG (FLNG) facility near Kitimat, British Columbia (B.C.), Canada. The facility was expected to begin exporting LNG in 2018.
Reuters reports that the consortium decided to halt the development “due to adverse economic conditions and worsening global energy price levels.”
