Deloitte has grown its oil and gas practice capability in Brisbane, with the arrival of Elizeu Boto as a Principal in the firm’s energy and resources industry group.

Elizeu comes to Deloitte with extensive experience focused on the resources industry gained in Australia and Latin America. He was most recently industry consulting lead for Accenture’s energy practice, working primarily with the unconventional gas operators on the east coast.

Prior to joining Accenture in 2011, Elizeu was a member of IBM’s global centre of excellence in program and project management. Before that, he led the delivery of large programs with Brazil’s largest resources companies, Petrobras and Vale.

Deloitte National Leader, Energy and Resources, Michael Rath said: “The oil and gas sector has been through a significant state of flux and disruption in recent years. Elizeu is a highly experienced leader with a proven track record helping oil and gas, and chemicals and mining companies address their most challenging business issues.

“The oil and gas sector has adjusted to ‘lower for longer’ commodity prices and is now focused on predictable, stable and cost-efficient operations, while cautiously looking to growth. Elizeu’s significant expertise in the areas of production operations, integrated planning, asset management, capital projects and digital transformation will be crucial in guiding our clients through the challenges ahead as they position themselves for this future growth.”

Julian Dolby, Deloitte Queensland lead Consulting partner added: “Elizeu brings significant experience to Deloitte’s high growth Brisbane office. We are working closely with our clients to optimise their operations and ensure they are globally competitive. We are very pleased to have a leader of Elizeu’s calibre on our team, further augmenting our capability to help clients improve and transform their business.”

Elizeu Boto said: “Deloitte is well respected in the market for its approach to working in close collaboration with its clients. The challenges currently faced by the energy sector in Australia mean companies are open to an infusion of experience and perspectives from other areas or industries. I am delighted to join a very strong team and excited about working with our clients in the development of solutions to strengthen the competitiveness of our industry in such a dynamic market.”
