According to multiple sources, an Indian port project would like to see LNG supplied for the Canadian market.

A recent groundbreaking project, a minister from India said that Canada would be one of the sources of LNG for the facility.

Indian Oil Corporation, along with two partners, are planning on building the facility at India’s Dhamra port. From there, they plan on bringing in LNG from oversees to meet the local demand.

It would import approximately 5 million t of LNG — roughly the equivalent of 240 billion ft3 of natural gas — each year when it is commissioned, expected by 2021.

India’s minister of state for petroleum and natural gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, has said they would import LNG from Canada, Qatar, United Staes and Iran.

Indian Oil also owns a 10% stake in Pacific NorthWest LNG.
