Bechtel has released a statement claiming that the first LNG cargo from the Santos Gladstone LNG (GLNG) project has loaded onto the Seri Bakti vessel, ready for delivery to South Korea. Along with Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) and Australia Pacific LNG projects, the GLNG project is one of three LNG facilities on Curtis Island, Australia. Bechtel is taking charge of the engineering, procurement, modularisation, construction and commissioning for these LNG facilities on Curtis Island and, once they are complete, they will have a total production of approximately 25 million tpy of LNG. Specifically, each train on the GLNG project will produce up to 3.9 million tpy of LNG, which means that it will be a large scale facility, delivering approximately 7.8 million tpy of LNG.

The General Manager of Bechtel’s LNG business, Alasdair Cathcart, said: “Delivering a project the scale of GLNG alone is an extraordinary effort that instils a great level of achievement and pride within our team. Successfully delivering the unprecedented scale of projects, side-by-side, simultaneously on Curtis Island, is a testament to the expertise of our team and the level of collaboration with our customers and suppliers […] Bringing the first GLNG production train online safely for our customer Santos GLNG is another important step forward to full delivery of all six trains on Curtis Island.”
