LNG Industry,
Reuters is reporting that Egypt has increased LNG exports from its Idku terminal to 1 billion ft3/d, from 300 million ft3/d.
In late 2018, Egypt became self-sufficient for natural gas. The next step for the now net-exporter is to become a regional energy hub, by utilising its LNG exporting capabilities.
Idku is currently the only operational LNG terminal in Egypt, however the country is also able to make use of pipelines to carry out its gas exports.
Royal Dutch Shell, Petronas, Engie, EGAS and EGPC, are all shareholders in the Idku plant.
