Elba Liquefaction LNG project update
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has provided a project update for the Elba Liquefaction project, located on Elba Island near Savannah, Georgia.
According to the report, the FERC is currently preparing the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Elba project, based on information received from the companies involved, as well as comments from stakeholders.
Following completion of the EA, there will be a 30-day period to review and comment on the document. The Commission will then consider the findings of the EA, combined with any comments received, before making a final approval on the project.
The project
Elba Liquefaction Company, Southern LNG Company, and Elba Express Company plan to construct and operate facilities for exporting LNG at SLNG’s existing Elba Island Terminal. The companies also intend to abandon the LNG truck loading facilities at the terminal.
FERC commenced its review of the project in March 2013, when the Commission approved the companies’ request to use the FERC pre-filing process. The companies formally filed applications for the project in March 2014.
