LNG Industry,

The Canada Energy Regulator (CER) has approved an application from Chevron Canada to export LNG for a term of 40 years.

In reviewing the application, the CER found that the natural gas that Chevron plans to export would be surplus to the needs of Canadians, both today and in the future.

In its application [Filing A98577], Chevron Canada said that it intends to export up to 28.23 billion m3 (approximately 997 billion ft3) of natural gas per year.

This decision [Filing C03430] does not come into effect until it is approved by Governor in Council.
