According to the latest Reuters report, the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved Kinder Morgan’s request to commence LNG production at its new export facility.

Elba Island LNG is one of six LNG export facilities contributing to exportable US LNG supplies. It is also unusual in that it employs modular technology to build smaller, 0.3 million tpy trains, rather than the usual 5 million tpy trains utilised in other LNG production facilities around the US.

The project has experienced start-up issues since late last year, requiring its 10 trains setup to be adjusted.
