The Sakhalin regional government (Russia) has announced that Japan’s JGC Corp. is exploring the possibility of constructing a mini LNG plant in the region.

The news follows a meeting between the Governor of the region, Oleg Kozhemyako, and a Director and member of JGC’s Board of Directors, Masanori Suzuki. The Governor stated that the Sakhalin Oblast Government would be prepared to provide full support for the project.

Reportedly, the plant would be supplied with gas from the Aniva gas fields. Suzuki is planning to visit the fields, in order to explore possible locations for the project.
