SPT Marine Transfer awarded Kuwait LNG contract
SPT Marine Transfer Services has been awarded a contract for the provision of technical support services at Kuwait National Petroleum Company’s (KNPC) LNG import facility.
The Mina Al Ahmadi GasPort terminal is used to supply additional LNG to Kuwait to cope with increased power demand during the summer months.
LNG STS transfer
SPT has been involved with the LNG import terminal since 2007 and for the past three years has been contracted directly to KNPC providing technical support for over 140 incident free LNG ship-to-ship (STS) transfer operations.
SPT Inc. CEO, Simon Duncan, commented: “We are very pleased to continue the close working relationship with KNPC and look forward to supporting them in the continued safe and reliable operation of this key facility.”
First class service
Khaled Mohammed Al-Hajeri, manager of operations at the LNG terminal, added: “We are delighted with the performance of SPT during the past three years. We can depend on SPT to consistently deliver first class service to us, both in terms of their exemplary safety performance and industry-recognised expertise in LNG STS and terminal support.
“It is because of this performance that we awarded SPT Marine Transfer Services Ltd a new 5 year technical support contract; in alignment with the recently awarded LNG Storage and Regasification Contract at Mina Al Ahmadi. The new FSRU is technologically advanced when compared to similar vessels; and because of this we are pleased to have SPT’s technical support in the commissioning and bringing into service of this new chapter of operations at Mina Al Ahmadi.
