Commissioning of Caribbean FLNG commences

Exmar has announced that commissioning for its floating LNG (FLNG) project, Caribbean FLNG, has now commenced. The delivery of the vessel is expected to commence in 3Q16, following performance tests at the shipyard. Exmar claims that a number of options are being discussed regarding the vessel’s employment.
The company also claims that its floating storage regasification unit (FSRU), which is being built by Wison, is on schedule. It is expected to be delivered by mid-2017, with Exmar currently holding talks with a number of companies regarding the vessel’s long-term employment.
Exmar added that all of its FSRUs and LNG carriers (except for Excel) remain committed to long-term charter. Therefore, they not impacted directly by the rate fluctuations on the global market. The Excel is presently employed on the spot market, and is continuing to benefit from a minimum revenue undertaking.
