Wood Group has announced that it has been awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract from Shell for the proposed Woodside-operated Browse floating LNG (FLNG) development. Under the 12 month contract, Wood Group Kenny will provide flow assurance and process integration studies for the Brecknock, Calliance and Torosa offshore gas-condensate fields.
The contract, which is effective immediately, follows the successful delivery of the preliminary flow assurance and process integration studies for Browse FLNG during the basis of design (BOD) phase. It also represents the third contract that Wood Group Kenny has received for work on the development. Earlier in December 2015, Woodside awarded Wood Group Kenny a FEED contract to progress the configuration design of the flexible risers and umbilicals. Furthermore, in July 2015, Wood Group Kenny was awarded a contract worth US$6 million to perform all of the design engineering for the development’s insulated production flowline system.
The CEO of Wood Group Kenny, Bob MacDonald, said: “To be awarded a third FEED contract on the proposed Browse FLNG development is testament to our excellent understanding of the asset and the strong value and performance we have delivered to date. It also reflects Shell’s confidence in our ability to collaborate with them towards the successful delivery of the next phase of this exciting project.
“We look forward to providing the expertise and knowledge which will enable the efficient and effective delivery of this critically important design phase on what is one of the largest flow assurance projects for Wood Group Kenny.”
