Gazprom Marketing & Trading signs technical agreement with OOO ‘Gazprom Flot’

Gazprom Marketing & Trading (GM&T) has signed a technical agreement with OOO ‘Gazprom Flot’ to provide technical and commercial advice during the design and building of a LNG floating storage regasification unit (FSRU), which is due to be delivered in November 2017.

The FSRU will have a maximum capacity of 174 100 m3, a maximum sendout of 500 million ft3/d, and can reach of speeds up to 19.5 knots. It will be used to supply the Kaliningrad Region of Russia. It will also be able to be used as a regasification plant, an LNG shuttle, or a conventional LNG carrier, and includes expanded accommodation and specialized equipment for shipboard and LNG handling training for the Russian maritime universities.

GM&T will provide specialist supervision over the construction of the FSRU, focusing on the technology required for the ice and cold temperatures found in the Kaliningrad Region.

GM&T’s Global Director of Shipping, Nikolai Grigoriev, said: “We are extremely proud to support Gazprom, our parent company, and to be involved in the construction of the world’s first ice class FSRU with such advanced technical characteristics, and of such importance for Russia”.
