Chart Energy & Chemicals Inc., a Chart Industries Company, has confirmed that its proprietary brazed aluminium heat exchangers (BAHX) were the first to produce LNG on board a floating LNG (FLNG) facility, following Black & Veatch’s announcement regarding the successful performance testing of the Exmar Caribbean FLNG (CFLNG) vessel in Nantong, China. CFLNG uses Black and Veatch’s patented PRICO® technology.
Black & Veatch reported that the average liquefaction process load exceeded 100% during a 72-hour performance test that fulfilled all design requirements, production capacities and operational expectations.
BAHX are custom designed, highly efficient, compact heat exchange devices that offer excellent heat transfer performance and operational flexibility. BAHX are suited to floating vessels - where space is at a premium and reliability is paramount - due to their substantially lower weight, scalability, modular construction and proven performance,. BAHX are incorporated into the Chart designed and built cold box, which provides insulation, shipping and fire protection, flanged connections for easy hook up and a single structure for installation.
Andrew Moriarty, President of Chart Energy & Chemicals, said: “Chart would like to congratulate Black & Veatch, Exmar, Wison Offshore & Marine and the other partners for achieving this historic milestone and thank them for allowing us to be a part of this prestigious project.”
