Eni has been selected by QatarEnergy as a new international partner in the North Field East (NFE) expansion project, the world’s largest LNG project.

TotalEnergies has been the first company selected to partner with QatarEnergy on the giant North Field East LNG project in Qatar.

The companies, alongside Chevron Corp. and Italy’s Eni, are partnering on the North Field expansion, which will boost Qatar’s LNG output by 64% by 2027.

The company has been selected to supply four air separation units for an LNG development project in Qatar.

They have signed a joint declaration of intent to further promote the cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, particularly through building LNG trade relations.

According to GlobalData, 40% of Italy’s gas imports are from Russia, and turning to Qatar is only a very short-term solution to overcome this.

A subsidiary of Mitsui O.S.K Lines has signed agreements with QatarEnergy for the long-term charter and operation of four LNG ships.

The company states that it will re-engage and progress discussions on long-term LNG supplies from Qatar to Germany.
