Contship Italia to deploy LNG trucks
Contship Italia Group’s multimodal transport operator, Hannibal, has agreed to work with IVECO to explore the operational performance of LNG engines.
The company intends to test the LNG trucks prior to finalising a decision to deploy the vehicles within the Contship Italia Group Intermodal & Logistic division’s partners.
Live trials will be carried out under the ‘Poseidon MED’ programme, which is an EU funded project promoting the use of LNG as a viable alternative fuel in the container supply chain.
In partnership with the Italian trucking company LGT Autotrasporti Laverde and IVECO’s dealer Milano Industrial, a new Stralis LNG truck was refuelled for the first time at the Eni LNG service station in Piacenza, Italy.
LNG technology deployed by IVECO offers environmental benefits including reduced NOx, particulate and CO2 emissions.
