NGVA Europe welcomes new board directors

NGVA Europe has announced that four of its members - Bord Gáis Networks, Daimler, Shell and xperion Energy & Environment - have been given seats on the association’s Board of Directors.

The last General Meeting held during the activities of NGV2014 Brussels approved the new members unanimously. The decision expands NGVA's governing body to a total of 21 members.

Bord Gáis Networks

Bord Gáis Networks, a division of Bord Gáis, builds and operates the natural gas networks in Ireland, mainly on behalf of Gaslink. Bord Gáis Networks connects all customers to the network regardless of the chosen natural gas supply company. The Bord Gáis network consists of 2321 km of high-pressure steel transmission pipes and over 10,500 km of distribution pipelines.

Daimler Group

Daimler is one of the world’s most successful automotive companies. With its divisions cars, trucks, vans, buses and financial services, the Daimler Group is one of the biggest producers of premium cars. The company sells its vehicles and services in nearly all countries of the world and has production facilities on five continents. In 2013, the company sold 2.3 million vehicles.

Shell

Shell is a major player in the global energy market, with its business activities including exploration and production, refining, distribution and marketing as well as petrochemicals, biofuels and trading. The company believes that LNG could form a bigger part of the transport energy mix.

Lauran Wetemans, General Manager Downstream-LNG commented: “Shell’s decision to join NGVA Europe is recognition that Natural gas can be a viable option for fuelling cleaner and more sustainable transportation. We are excited to play a stronger role in the European dialogue about LNG as an emerging fuel for road transport and ships."

xperion Energy & Environment
