MET International AG (METI), which is the trading arm of MET Group, has announced that it has successfully executed its first LNG import transaction. METI purchased a cargo on a DEIS basis into Italy in mid-July in order to cover its downstream demand. The trading arm opened its LNG desk in early March 2016, employing Diego Galimberti as the LNG Manager, who has served in the LNG industry for over 10 years.

The Head of Wholesale & Origination at METI, György Domokos, said: “This transaction is perfectly fitting into our strategy to scale up LNG as an additional means of supply into our downstream European portfolio, being also the cornerstone of our LNG strategy.”

Currently, MET Group has a total downstream portfolio of 4 billion m3 in the illiquid parts of Europe (such as Mediterranean and CEE regions), which it is planning to increase continually.
