Wärtsilä to provide regas system for FSRU conversion project

Wärtsilä has announced that it has received an order to supply the regasification system for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) conversion project that Höegh LNG is planning to carry out on a modern LNG carrier.

The regasification system will feature regas technology using water glycol as the intermediate medium instead of propane. Wärtsilä claims that this solutio is 15% smaller and lighter than a propane based system.

Wärtsilä will provide the water glycol regasification module, the water glycol /seawater heaters and pumps for this project. Delivery is scheduled for autumn 2017.

Wärtsilä has previously supplied eight regasification systems to Höegh LNG.

Sveinung J.S. Støhle, CEO and President of Höegh LNG, sadi: "Having used Wärtsilä's systems for previous FSRUs, we are familiar with their expertise in this field and we did not hesitate in accepting their competitive bid and selecting their system for this FSRU conversion vessel."
