JERA submits plans for LNG power plants

Japan’s JERA Co. Inc. has announced that it has submitted a new electricity supply plan to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for the fiscal year 2016. The plan involves the development of approximately 5590 MW of thermal power generation capacity.
The power generation capacity included in the plan consists of the replacement of aging thermal power plants that are currently owned by TEPCO Fuel & Power.
JERA claims that it is planning to add approximately 4290 MW of LNG-fuelled power generation, and approximately 1300 MW of coal-fuelled power generation.
One LNG facility in Goi will generate approximately 2340 MW from three 780 MW units. Another LNG facility in Anegasaki will generate approximately 1950 MW from three 650 MW units. The coal facility, located in Yokosuka, will generate approximately 1300 MW from two 650 MW units.
