Klaipedos Nafta receives EU financial support

SC Klaipedos Nafta has announced that the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF, part of the EU financing program) Coordination Committee has approved financial support of €15 million for the joint project ‘Blue Baltics’, which will expand LNG bunkering network across the Baltic Sea. SC Klaipedos Nafta – one of five companies that will receive financial support - expects to receive approximately € 4million.

The Blue Baltics project consists of investments in LNG mobile facilities for bunkering of LNG ships in Lithuania, Sweden, Estonia and Germany. The project will also invest in an upgrade of LNG infrastructure in Klaipeda, the expansion of LNG fuelling infrastructure in Estonia, the upgrade of an LNG distribution terminal in Sweden, and a bunkering vessel in Germany.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2Q19.

Last year, SC Klaipedos nafta received €6 million in EU support to assist with construction of the LNG reloading station. In 2014, the company also received €0.15 million in EU support for the LNG reloading station FEED and other preparation works.
