China Ocean Shipbuilding to develop LNG carriers
Jiangxi Jiangzhou United Shipbuilding Company Limited, a subsidiary of China Ocean Shipbuilding, has entered into a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Jianglian Heavy Industries Company Limited, in relation to the development of LNG carriers in Jiangxi Province, China.
Pursuant to the agreement, the cooperation will cover the following:
- Jianglian Heavy Industries may rent from JJUSCL shipbuilding facilities, factories, premises and shipyards for use in the production of single containment LNG tanks and large non-standard containers;
- The joint development of LNG carriers, LNG fuelling stations, carriers adapted from ship-to-ship LNG transfer, and the modification of dual-fuel LNG ships;
- Depending on the development of the LNG carrier and large container markets, the companies may strengthen the strategic partnership to jointly develop launching ports and assembly plants.
The China Ocean Shipbuilding board of directors believes that this cooperation will benefit both parties, by using strengths in their respective businesses to gradually enter the developing market of LNG carrier shipbuilding in China.
