Sinopec adds third LNG tank to Tianjin terminal

Reuters is reporting that China’s Sinopec Corp. recently completed the construction of a third LNG storage tank at its LNG import terminal in Tianjin.
The success of this operation marks the completion of the first phase of construction at the import facility.
Located in the northern port city of Tianjin, near Beijing, the terminal commenced operations in February this year. So far it has received 22 shipments of LNG totaling 1.46 million t. The facility has a receiving capacity of 3 million tpy and an annual supply capacity of 4 billion m3.
Sinopec operates two other LNG terminals in China; one in Beihai in the southwest Guangxi region, and the other in Qingdao in the eastern province of Shandong.
The terminal and its new tank will see increased usage in the coming months as the Chinese government has called for LNG storage to be maximised, in preparation for the coming winter and the resulting demand spikes.
