LNG Industry,
According to Reuters, the latest vessel in Yamal LNG’s fleet of 15 Arc7 LNG carriers has commenced operations, with another waiting outside the facility.
The carrier, named Nikolay Urvantsev, delivered its first cargo from Yamal to France on 16 October, while Georgiy Ushakov has been stationary outside the Gulf of Ob since 20 October.
The Georgiy Ushakov is one of six ice-breaking LNG tankers to serve the Yamal LNG project. The vessels are owned by a joint venture between Teekay LNG and China LNG Shipping (a unit of COSCO Dalian). As such, under the latest US sanctions on shipping companies accused of transporting Iranian oil, these tankers have been blocked.
The last of the ice-breaking tankers ordered by Yamal and owned by the Teekay-China LNG Shipping venture, the Yakov Gakkel, is reportedly still at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) Okpo shipyard in South Korea, undergoing sea trials.
