Jumbo has awarded Ulstein Design & Solutions B.V. the concept and basic design for their LNG powered DP2 heavy lift crane vessel.
In close cooperation with Jumbo, the new design is developed as a customised version of the ULSTEIN HX104 design. The vessel will be the largest X-BOW® vessel to date and with its two Huisman mast cranes of 2200 and 400 t respectively, will be capable to serve both the offshore wind and the offshore oil and gas industry. To minimise the environmental footprint, the vessel features dual fuel engines, enabling to operate on LNG.
“We are proud that Jumbo has entrusted us to design their new offshore asset. Especially as the contract award resulted from a design competition,” says Edwin van Leeuwen, Managing Director at Ulstein Design & Solutions B.V. “The lay-out of the vessel with the X-BOW® hull, results in a very cost efficient, safe and comfortable ship with excellent operational uptime and transit speed.”
