Reuters is reporting that ExxonMobil Asia Pacific has signed a charter agreement with Singapore’s Sinanju Tankers Holdings Pte Ltd. The agreement is for a two-year lease of Singapore’s first LNG-fuelled bunker tanker.
From 1Q20, the newbuild, 7990 dwt, LNG bunker tanker will reportedly deliver ExxonMobil’s new engineered marine fuels (EMF.5) to vessels at the Port of Singapore.
EMF.5 are ExxonMobil’s answer to the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s new fuel sulfur content limits that are due to come into effect in 2020.
According to Ju Kai Meng, Managing Director of Sinanju, suing LNG as fuel for the bunkering tanker will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the bunker industry.
