NYK concludes time charter contract for LNG carriers
NYK has concluded a basic agreement on a time charter contract for two new LNG carriers with Diamond Gas International Pte Ltd.
The company also concluded a contract with MI LNG Co. Ltd for the construction of the LNG carriers.
These new ships will be delivered in 2018 and will transport LNG for the Cameron LNG Project in Louisiana, US.
The vessels will have apple-shaped tanks as part of the Sayaringo series of tanks, which have a larger LNG-carrying capacity. The structure of the vessels reduces ship weight and air resistance, and they also feature a hybrid propulsion system combining a steam turbine and engines that can be fired by gas, resulting in cuts in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
