According to the latest Reuters report, a LNG cargo has been delivered to Chinese gas distributor ENN for the country’s first privately-owned major LNG import terminal.
LNG tanker Sterna Blue Sky delivered its cargo to Zhoushan port, having originated from Qatar’s Ras Laffan LNG terminal.
The Zhoushan facility, operated by ENN, is located in the Zhejiang region of Eastern China. It has a capacity of 3 million tpy and was expected to commence operations in July 2018.
The terminal has already drawn interest from several companies. Indeed, it has been reported that ENN has already signed sales and purchase agreements with Chevron Corp and Australia’s Origin Energy, in addition to an agreement to buy LNG from Total. As things currently stand, the various agreed deals account for approximately 1.5 million tpy of LNG.
