LNG Industry,
Burckhardt Compression has announced that it received numerous orders for its Labe-GI compressor system for fuel gas supply between December 2014 and March 2015.
The reciprocating compressors will be used to supply fuel gas to dual-fuel ship propulsion systems. They will be installed on several LNG tankers with a carrying capacity of 174 000 m3 each.
The compressor system will deliver fuel gas derived from boil-off gas (LNG vapours) to the ships' dual-fuel engines. The propulsion system can be operated with eco-friendly natural gas or with heavy fuel oil. The Laby®-GI compressors will be utilised to deliver fuel gas to ship engines and auxiliary power units and also to reliquefy boil-off gas. This multi-purpose design helps to minimise the complexity of onboard installations as well as the footprint and weight of the installations.
The fuel gas compressor system was developed in close collaboration with MAN Diesel & Turbo.
