Engie Zeebrugge carries out first LNG loading operation

Fluxys has announced that the Engie Zeebrugge – the world’s first purpose built LNG bunkering vessel – has completed the first loading operation at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal’s second jetty.

Engie, Fluxys, Mitsubishi Corp. and NYK took delivery of the vessel earlier in the year. It was constructed by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd at the Yeongdo shipyard in Busan, South Korea.

The Engie Zeebrugge is 107.60 m long and has a breadth of 18.40 m. It has a gross tonnage of 7403 t, and has an LNG capacity of 5000 m³. Its main engine is dual-fuel, capable of operating on marine gas oil (MGO), marine diesel oil (MDO) and LNG.

Zeebrugge, Belgium, is the vessel’s home port. From here, the vessel provides LNG as a marine fuel for ships operating in Northern Europe.
