Mitsubishi Corp. has announced that the first LNG cargo from the Donggi Senoro LNG Project has been shipped to the Pertmanina-operated Arun LNG receiving terminal.
Mitsubishi Corp. has a 45% shareholding in PT Donggi-Senoro LNG (DSLNG), the operating joint venture company of this project.
DSLNG has a liquefaction plant with a production capacity of 2 million tpy of LNG. The total development cost of the LNG project, which is located in Central Sulawesi State, Sulawesi island, Indonesia, is approximately US$2.9 billion. Mitsubishi Corp. reached the final investment decision (FID) for the LNG project in January 2011.
The LNG plant started operation in June 2015. DSLNG will deliver LNG based on long-term contracts to supply 1 million tpy to Chubu Electric Power Co Inc., 300 000 tpy to Kyushu Electric Power Co Inc. and 700 000 tpy to Korea Gas Corp. (KOGAS).
This project differs from conventional LNG projects in that international major oil companies took the initiative in the development and operation of the LNG project. It is also the first time that a Japanese enterprise has taken the lead in the development and operation of an LNG project.
