Magnolia LNG submits FERC drafts
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Limited has announced that its subsidiary, Magnolia LNG, has submitted drafts of all 13 Resources Reports to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The reports cover a range of environmental and engineering aspects of the proposed 8 million tpa Magnolia LNG export project in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The filing of the draft reports was described as a “significant step in Magnolia LNG’s objective of receiving the necessary permits and approvals to commence construction and operation of the M[agnolia] LNG project”.
The FERC will now review the reports and provide feedback. It will then work with Magnolia LNG to address any issues, with the process expected to be completed in March or April of next year. The end result will be Magnolia LNG being granted FERC Filing status.
Public participation
After the Filing status is granted, the FERC will begin compiling an Environment Impact Statement (EIS) for the Magnolia LNG project. Members of the public will be invited to participate in this process and once the final EIS is issued, the FERC will decide whether to issue and order allowing Magnolia to commence construction. This is expected in 2015.
