The American Petroleum Institute’s Director of Upstream, Erik Milito, commented: “Today’s strong vote, to be followed by a Senate hearing Thursday, shows that lawmakers are working fast to secure America’s competitiveness as an energy superpower. This is a top priority for the new Congress because LNG exports represent a clear-cut, bipartisan opportunity to increase domestic energy production, create more American jobs, and protect the security of the US and its allies.

“As the president noted in his State of the Union, America is number one in oil and natural gas production, and every major study - including a recent report from the Department of Energy – shows that LNG exports will accelerate US economic growth. We’re optimistic that House and Senate leaders will be able to quickly come together behind legislation that will benefit the US while helping bolster our allies abroad.”

CLNG

The Center for Liquefied Natural Gas (CLNG) has also praised the approval of the LNG export bill. CLNG President, Bill Cooper, issued the following statement:

“CLNG applauds the House of Representatives’ bipartisan solution to bring regulatory certainty to the permitting process for LNG export applications by implementing a deadline for DOE to act.

“The passage of H.R. 351 sends a strong signal that the United States is committed to its role as an energy leader. Increasing exports of US LNG will allow us to realise significant economic benefits resulting from tens of billions of dollars of new investment and the creation of tens of thousands of direct jobs, while also supplying our friends and allies with a reliable and affordable source of fuel.

“With bipartisan and bicameral support continuing to grow, the right policies can be put in place to ensure that our abundant natural gas supplies benefit the US trade balance, US foreign policy and enhance energy security around the world.”

ANGA

America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) also expressed its approval of the passage of H.R. 351, saying: “We applaud the House of Representatives for its bipartisan passage of legislation to streamline the federal process for approving terminals that allow for the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Given the abundance of domestic natural gas, expanding our export opportunities will create jobs, strengthen our economy and enhance national and energy security.”
