BC First Nations to hold LNG summit

LNG Industry,

British Columbia’s First Nations are to hold a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Summit in Fort St. John, BC.

The Treaty 8 Tribal Association will be hosting the next First Nations LNG Summit, which takes place on 17th – 19th February this year. The summit provides a chance for First Nations to come together to discuss informed decision-making regarding LNG with their communities.

This latest summit builds on successful events in Prince Rupert and Prince George last year. It will take what was shared and learned in those sessions and use a series of site tours, talks and practical workshops to provide First Nations leaders and other interested parties with the information, knowledge and ideas needed to update communities and to make informed decisions.

Delegates will include First Nations leaders, provincial and federal government officials, and LNG proponents.

A press conference will be held to discuss the outcomes of this summit as well as the plans First Nations have to move toward informed decision-making with their communities.
