LNG-conversion-ready tanker commences sea trials

General Dynamics NASSCO has announced that the Liberty – the third and final ship constructed as part of the ECO Class tanker programme for SEACOR – has been taken to sea for testing and trials.

Like the other two vessels, Liberty is LNG-conversion-ready, 50 000 DWT, and has a 330 000 barrel cargo capacity. All three vessels are 610 ft long and were designed DSEC – a subsidiary of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) of Busan, South Korea.

The ECO design achieves improved fuel efficiency through a number of features, including a G-series MAN ME slow-speed main engine, as well as an optimised hull form.

All of the vessels were constructed at NASSCO’s shipyard in San Diego, US. Construction on the first vessel commenced in 4Q14.

JERA signs LNG supply agreement with QatarEnergy

JERA Co., Inc. has announced the signing of a long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement with QatarEnergy to secure the supply of 3 million tpy for 27 years.
