Enap creates LNG business unit

LNG Industry,

Chile’s state-owned Enap has created a new business unit dedicated to gas and electricity, with a focus on LNG.

The new division reflects the company’s expansion beyond its main downstream and upstream divisions.

To address the development of LNG and promote Enap’s participation in energy projects, Andrés Alonso will manage the newly formed Energy and Gas Division. Before joining Enap, Alonso served as Manger of Energy and Climate Change for BHP Billiton, and was the former head of energy and water resources at Codelco, the Chilean copper mining giant.

Enap has a 20% share in Chile’s Quintero LNG receiving terminal, and is one of the facility’s three importers.
