Premier of British Columbia (B.C.), Christy Clark has welcomed Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s new tax relief to help enhance the competitiveness of B.C.’s LNG industry.
Christy Clark said: “This is great news for the creation of LNG jobs in British Columbia, and great news for Canada […] We have been working with the federal government and industry for some time to achieve this outcome, and I am pleased they have delivered today.”
The Government of Canada has announced plans to establish a capital cost allowance rate of 30% for equipment used to liquefy natural gas and 10% for infrastructure at the export facility.
Deputy Premier Rich Coleman, Minister of Natural Gas Development, added: “B.C. is already a safe, certain, competitive jurisdiction for LNG investment […] With today’s good news, B.C. is even better positioned to take advantage of this generational opportunity.”
