Black & Veatch participates in FSRU keel-laying

Black & Veatch has announced that it has participated in the keel-laying of Exmar’s floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) project that is being built by Wison Offshore & Marine.

Black & Veatch is providing engineering and procurement services to Wison for the barge’s topside.

The fabrication and assembly of the FSRU has now moved to the dry dock at Wison’s Nantong shipyard.  The FSRU will ultimately be delivered to Exmar under a turnkey engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract.

The FSRU will be the world’s first non-propelled, barge-based FSRU and the first built in China. It will be equipped with two regasification trains, resulting in a total installed regasification capacity of 600 million ft³/d. The project is scheduled for completion by the 4Q16.

“This next phase of the FSRU’s fabrication underlines the productive, trusted and long lasting relationship we have forged with both Exmar and Wison over the recent years,” said Bob Germinder, Senior Vice President and Director of Black & Veatch’s Floating Oil and Gas Solutions business. “There are a number of LNG projects coming on stream in Australia, southeast Asia and many more underway from other locations from North America to East Africa. Together with what seems to be an increasing trend for more spot-traded LNG, demand for fast-to-market and cost-effective floating receiving terminals will remain strong.”
